The Point of Compass Call, fall edition

“understanding our times, understanding our mission”

I think every event sponsored by the Compass Call ministry over the past eleven years has been important, And I trust you agree! That being said, as we head into event #39 (or is #40?), this next looks like it will be one right up there.

All of the previous events have been significant and important, no question about it. We have been blessed beyond belief with the teaching servants that God has sent our way. The word “crucial” comes to mind when I anticipate this next School of Issachar. Yet, on the other side of the ledger, is “preposterous.” Let me clarify that in a moment.

We welcome Rick Clendinning  back, this time teaching on the “exclusivity of Jesus Christ.” You may recall his outstanding teaching on gender issues at last year’s (2017) Weekend in the Word. (And by the way, he will be back yet again at the School of Apollos in January, 2019, as he unravels the practical teaching in I Timothy.)

At face value, in the face of other religions, other non-religious worldviews, or even from within Christianity, Rick’s presentation is very timely, and both crucial and preposterous!

At this stage, I haven’t seen his notes, but I believe he will ask (and answer—either from the teaching time or over the meals) some of the following questions: Is Jesus the only way? What about similarities with other perspectives? What happens to the those who have never heard? How do we bring this teaching into our evangelism, without sounding bigoted? Is it true or delusional? In other words, to claim that Jesus is the only way is “preposterous” because it is so “crucial.” Come and find out!
